Cockett Group’s Caroline Huot – Global Head Lubricants has attended The 3rd Asia, Middle East & Africa BLW Conference 2019 – on February 6th & 7th 2019 in the Oberoi, Dubai.

Caroline Huot attended as speaker and her presentation focused on Marine Lubricants Market Overview 2019: Managing the Complexity, including trends, analysis of key markets and an overview of the 2018/19 marine lubricants markets.

Given the diverse geographic attendance and wide cross-section of disciplines represented, the presentations offered a widespread view of both Bitumen, Base Oils and Lubricant markets with a focus on Market Growth (China, India and Africa markets in particular), strong transformation under the influence of Environmental regulations and global warming consciousness (electrical vehicle market development, formula evolutions,  base oils and additives adaptations) as well as the possible impact of Iran – and maybe Venezuela – US sanctions on Base Oils supply.  Cockett Group’s presentation on Marine Lubricants was rated as ‘’very good ‘’ by most of the attendants and was the only one focusing on the impact of IMO 2020 on technical services as well as global supply.  

Participants survey showed up that attendants would be interested to learn about OEM approvals; Marine Lubes; Additives; GTL; Group I rationalization; fate of bright stock; base oil and lubricant trends in the Middle East & Africa; logistics & shipping of base oils; base oil and additive pricing and emerging technologies.
