On the 9th May 2019 Cockett Group was invited by ATENA (Italian Nautical Technical Association) for a technical seminar which was organized at CONFITARMA headquarters  (Italian Ship Owners association).  

CONFITARMA is the main Italian shipping industry association which represents most of Italy’s commercial fleet, shipping companies and groups operating in freight and passenger transport, cruises and auxiliary traffic services.
The prestigious seminar was held in one of the most beautiful rooms of the rented area of the Palace, the Arazzi room, where CONFITARMA holds their institutional meetings.
ATENA invited Cockett to talk in depth about Global Cap 2020 implications on Marine fuels and lubricants being one of the biggest worldwide re-sellers and international trading houses.

Speakers Massimo De Domenico, President, ATENA Roma, Fleet Manager, ATENA provided introduction to the event. Cem Saral, CEO, Cockett Group spoke about Worldwide Bunker Perspective and about worldwide product availability and technical characteristics. Caroline Huot, Global Head Lubricants, Cockett Group, talked about Marine Lubricants and fuel complexity focusing on the lubrication topic in relation to the problematics which will arise as CAP 2020 will come into force. Mr. Fabio Faraone, Head of Service of CONFITARMA Naval technique, Safety and Environment department gave Shipowner’s perspective as a conclusion to the event.

Attendees were from many different realities: Shipping companies representatives and owners, people from vetting companies, from Unione Petrolifera (Association of Petroleum Producers), Admirals from Italian Navy, Coast Guards, Marine registers, insurance, WISTA (Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association) and academics from local University.

This seminar was featured on the first page on CONFITARMA web site and ATENA plans to feature an article about the seminar on TTM magazine. TTM is a virtual technical magazine part of the Medi Telegraph, about marine technologies and transportation wildly circulated also among ATENA and CONFITARMA members. Moderators were Massimo De Domenico as President of ATENA Roma and Mr. Umberto d’Amato as Vice President ATENA Naples. Participants showed much enthusiasm on the topics and followed the presentations closely with lots of interest demonstrated during Questions & Answers sessions after each presentation.
